Sprucing up your home no longer means just making it look pretty. This year it’s all about combining comfort with style and glamour. Sugar Plum Interiors owners Tammy and Sameera are passionate about interior design. Here are their 2017 design predictions…

Monochromatic colour schemes with lots of textures, geometric shapes and clean lines, whether it’s in bathrooms, on tiles, furniture, or prints.

Sexy lighting is a key element and transforms any space or area in the home. Make sure you choose high quality recessed downlights and look out for over-the-top oversized pendants in feature areas to really make a statement. LED outdoor elements can be quite whimsical as well.

Natural elements and colours are here to stay. Work them into your home using solid wooden flooring (our favourite), which is a great way to bring in the sophistication only authentic finishes can. Concrete-look floor tiles for indoor and outdoor areas are also very trendy and timeless.

Oversized, comfy couches are a must. People are no longer willing to compromise on comfort and practicality.

In bathrooms, we are looking forward to seeing lots of coloured bathtubs and taps, which showcase the ultimate in style and glamour.
