What we’re drinking this week

With a chill in the air, we’re drinking this lovely red … a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merot and Petit Verdot.
The L’Amour Toujours 2013 is the Allee Bleueu’s flagship red wine … delicate flavours of fynbos, cedar and cigar box are all beautifully wrapped in blackberry fruit. You’ll taste spice, dark chocolate and cinnamon … it’s brilliant with duck or a rich oxtail potjie. R200 from the cellar. If you prefer a white, try the Isabeau 2014, the estate’s flagship white wine. A blend of  mostly Chardonnay with Semillon and Viognier, you’ll smell abundant citrus and dried apricot,  spicy cinnamon and soft vanilla, then taste elegant flavours of summer fruits with a lingering lemony aftertaste. It’s lovely with Thai Style duck breast with a ginger jus and stir fried noodles or chicken and a light saffron sauce with a side salad. R110 from the cellar.
