Our August Wishlist
August’s always the chilliest month …
and it feels like winter’s been here forever. To reward ourselves for getting this far, we’re thinking sweet treats. And there’s nothing much sweeter than a syrup-drenched Greek dessert. First choice is always Baklava or Kataifi … pecan nuts and cinnamon in the most delicate shredded phyllo pastry, soaked in syrup and served, if we’re going OTT, with pistachio halva ice-cream. Swoon. But Mythos has so much more to choose from when it comes to spoil-yourself-puds … so we’re going back for the Loukoumades.. Greek donuts with honey, pecan nut and cinnamon or with butter toffee. And back again, for the Rizogalo … traditional warm rice pudding with ground cinnamon. And, good grief, back again, for the (almost) healthy extra-thick home-style Greek yoghurt with nuts and honey. With a cup of hellishly strong, sweet Greek coffee (or a cappuccino for those less adventurous), we’re in Mythos-heaven. Details: 031 942 2997 or www.mythos.co.za
