Durban personalities join forces in support of TAFTA’s 60th celebrations
Several top businessmen and women including Avalon Cinema’s, AB Moosa, Chateau Gateaux’s marketing manager Anna Kelly, Mitch Rankin of Platinum Destinations, Vanessa Brisset of Independent Newspapers and radio personality, Varshan Sookhan have joined forces to aid Tafta in its efforts to continue its legacy of elder care in Durban and surrounding regions.
The event scheduled to take place on Friday, August 11, at Suncoast CineCentre promises to be an evening of glitz, elegance and entertainment and will also début Tafta’s cinema advertisement.
Tafta values the support of local businessmen, women and personalities who have acknowleged the importance of improving the health and wellbeing of the aged community and to support the organisation in its fundraising efforts.
“Tafta is overwhelmed by the selfless support of these amazing personalities and extend sincere gratitude for coming together to support the cause. It is a significant time for the organisation that has stood the test of time for six decades and we are proud to celebrate 60 years of dedicated service to our seniors,” said Tafta Divisional Manager Income Development and Marketing, Gail Samuels.
Durban businessman Akshar Choudree said: “As a proud ambassador for Tafta, an organisation whose goals of assisting those of advanced age, directly align and resonate with my personal sentiments of empowerment and upliftment of those in need.” He said that he shared strong views on preserving the dignity of the elderly, adding that Tafta was one such organisation that had remained true to establishing itself with values that ran parallel to his personal beliefs.
Chateau Gateaux’s marketing manager, Anna Kelly said they were thrilled to be involved in Tafta’s large scale fundraising event. “We are often part of many birthday celebrations starting from the first through to the 100th, and we want to make the days in between that better and happier by helping raise funds for Tafta’s 60th celebration,” said Kelly.
Radio personality, Varshan Sookhun said he viewed the opportunity to work alongside Tafta as a “great privilege to do something distinctive for those preciously aged individuals in our society”.
“Tafta has been gloriously carrying out these fundraising initiatives over the years and it is of vital importance for us to come together and assist them in making their task effortless.
“On a personal note, I believe it is the ideal opportunity to salute Tafta by means of a simple yet compassionate endeavour,” said Sookhun.
