Greedy Buddha have brought the Spirit of Japan!

Hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun, Sushi comes in many forms. Having existed for more than 200 years, Sushi recipes have become a hit throughout the world. Renowned for their South East Asian cuisine, Greedy Buddha will be giving the peeps of Durban an alternative to try out, by bringing to life a new take on Sushi, blending unusual ingredients with a special twist.

Greedy Buddha held a Sushi pre-launch on Friday 29 September which saw some of their new Sushi dishes on display. These included Miso Seared Norwegian Salmon with Wasabi Pea Puree and Seared Lime, Avo and Daikon Cali rolls – and the GB Sushi Salad which sees several delightful ingredients mixed into a Sushi rice. The event was abuzz, with the voice of Marc Maurel setting the ambience for the yummy Sushi that was to follow.

The Sushi salad proved to be a hit with those in attendance. “The Sushi Salad was really refreshing. Usually Sushi salads are far too dry, however this dish had a good combination of flavours and moisture’, said Tarin Ramsaroop. Other dishes include, Crispy Prawn Taco, Citrus cured Salmon Sashimi and Rice Paper Rolls with either Prawn or Tuna.

Kureshan Pather, who was one of the first few to taste Greedy Buddha’s Sushi said, “The experience was great and the Sushi was different to the others I have tasted. I particularly liked the Avo and Daikon and the Sushi salad.”

Done are the days of prepacked condiments. Greedy Buddha’s Wasabi is freshly made, using fresh Horseradish to provide an authentic “real” Wasabi taste. The mayonnaise is homemade using free range eggs, flavoured with two secret Greedy Buddha ingredients.

Greedy Buddha’s owner, Jess Watts was thrilled to see people take to the new menu; “Sushi is perhaps the last South East Asian element that was missing at Greedy Buddha. The expansion of our menu to include Sushi will give Sushi lover the chance to experience new, exciting flavours. I am so excited about the Sushi that I already believe this is the best Sushi in town.”

Greedy Buddha is currently holding an in-house special which will run to the 20th of November 2017. Should you enjoy your Sushi meal, your waitron will give you a voucher for your next visit. Just take three friends along and you will get your Sushi platter for free. The all new Sushi menu will be available from Wednesday, 4 October.
