FUN FOR THE KIDS
SPCA Tree of Love
The Durban SPCA will again host their annual Tree of Love, which has become something of a tradition in shopping centres over the festive season. Christmas trees will be set up at Ballito Bay Mall, La Lucia Mall and The Crescent from 8 December and shoppers are encouraged to make a donation towards the care of our furry orphans. In return, they are invited to hang a beautifully wrapped miniature Christmas box on the tree, and write a dedication to their pet – past or present – on the attached card.
Fine Young Cooks
Fine Young Cooks will be hosting a holiday cooking club for kids on 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20 and 22 December as well as 8 and 10 January. Details: Lewaine – 082 378 1912.
LIV Christmas Celebration
LIV Village will host their Christmas celebration on 2 December at their village. The morning will include a Christmas play by the village’s kids and there will be food for sale. Their shop will also be open and it promises to be a fun day for the whole family. Details: www.liv-village.com
Flag Animal Farm
The North Coast’s favourite animal farm will offer an exciting holiday program for kids, including wolf interaction at 11am and 3.45pm, a Barney, Dora and Marshall Show at 11:30, a milking show at 12:30, a Mickey and Minnie meet-and-greet at 1:15, a reptile show at 2pm and an Elsa, Sofia and Chase show at 3pm. Sugar Rush Park
There are loads of fun and exciting events lined up at Sugar Rush Park this season, including their weekly Saturday morning market from 8am to 1pm. There will be a kiddie’s themed market on 2 December and Santa will be at the park from 9 to 16 December. The North Coast Craft Festival will take place on 16 December, showcasing some of SA’s favourite brands in beer, gin and wine gardens. There will also be pop-up stores and a kid play zone. I heart Market
Durban’s iconic I heart Market has expanded to the Northern Suburbs. Taking place on 30 December (the last Saturday of the month thereafter) from 9am to 3pm. I heart Market North is nestled in a natural amphitheatre of Blythedale Event Bowl with a view of indigenous foliage and the Indian Ocean. At the market you will find a wide range of locally-designed products, which have been carefully selected for their quality, originality and design appeal. Umhlanga Night Market
The Umhlanga Night Market at the Wavepark, Gateway Theatre of Shopping will take place on 15 December from 4pm to 10pm. The market will include a well-thought-out variety of exciting artisanal food and beverage craft vendors and arts and crafts, chosen specially for the Umhlanga community to thoroughly enjoy.
