Travel & Outdoors
Founded by local farmers Doug and Carol Nidd, Rain Farm was born from Doug’s love for the bush and his dream of always having a place for his children to enjoy a bush lifestyle away from busy, town life.
Since then the popular lodge and wedding and conference venue has grown from strength to strength, becoming the perfect spot for locals looking to escape for a night or two without having to go too far from home. And you don’t have to stay over to enjoy the facilities on offer at Rain Farm.
Their modest breakfast, lunch and dinner menus at the rustic but very comfortable restaurant boast wholesome, tasty meals, prepared and presented beautifully.
The quaint on-site stone chapel (built in memory of Kenneth and Anne Marie Nidd, Doug’s parents who were happily married for 30 years), and the exquisite views over the bush make this an ideal spot to say ‘I do’. There are great facilities and packages for conferences and special occasions.
A visit to Rain Farm with kids is an adventure, especially when the resident giraffes make their way up to the reception area to say hello. There are great kids’ play areas, which include a mini putt putt course and a fantastic rock pool overlooking the bush.
But, if you’re looking for something a little more romantic this Valentine’s Day, leave the kids at home and indulge in a dreamy date night with a delicious dinner and a great bottle of wine while overlooking the African bush. Better yet, book into the luxurious tented accommodation for the night and really take advantage of what this beautiful lodge has to offer.
