Superior skin

Her experience in the makeup industry, and that fact that Aldytha Da Silva was starting to see the effect entering her forties was having on her own skin, led to the Umhlanga businesswoman and former Mrs SA princess starting her own cosmeceutical skincare range.

There is much to be said for the experience and understanding that comes with having been immersed in the skincare and makeup industry for more than 25 years. It was this knowledge that led to the creation of Aldytha’s skincare range, SKIN By Aldytha.

As the co-owner of four Kryolan KZN stores, Aldytha says it was a natural progression for her to venture into creating her own range of products. After all, she knows first-hand how incredibly important skin is and delaying the effects of time that never stops marching.

Over the course of her career, Aldytha has owned a modelling school, as well as a make-up and hair agency, and headed up the make-up teams for various pageants, including Miss World and Mrs Universe. After training around the world with Kryolan make-up, Aldytha and her husband and business partner, Roberto, got the license to open their own Kryolan store in the KZN territory nearly five years ago.

Then, Aldytha says, she and her husband felt compelled to develop a range of products produced in South Africa for women. “Throughout our time in cosmetics and retail we kept hearing our clients say they wanted effective products that truly delivered results without complicated regimes and compromising ingredients.”

It was when Aldytha represented South Africa at the Mrs Universe 2016 pageant (at the age of 40 and married with three children) that the idea of launching her own skincare range was born.

“It was the hardest two years, with many challenges, and opening all our Kryolan stores at the same time . . . it was crazy . . . but what a rush! I felt alive and totally engaged in a life-changing moment, and I owned it! This was also the time that I had the privilege of meeting a remarkable pharmacist and where the first seed to open our own range was first planted.”

The couple’s in-depth knowledge of key, active ingredients has allowed them to deliver results that mimic professional in-salon treatments in the comfort of your own home.

After engaging with a reputable pharmaceutical company that has a focus on skin disorders and concerns like acne and pigmentation just under two years ago, SKIN By Aldytha was born.

The range now comprises of 18 cosmeceutical products, including cleansers, toners, moisturisers, serums, an eye treatment, UV 30+ skin protection and enzyme face wash and a scrub.

“Each product is produced in a local state-of-the-art laboratory, using only the finest ingredients, many of which are imported from France and other countries.”

Because of the excellent quality of the skincare range, KryolanSA have now endorsed SKIN By Aldytha as their official skincare range to be sold by all distributors within the South African territories and Mauritius.

The SKIN by Aldytha range is currently available in the Kryolan KZN stores located in Gateway, La Lucia Mall, Pavilion and 319 Lilian Ngoyi Road in Morningside.
