BRIDAL: All about the dress

BRIDAL: All about the dress

While some women start dreaming up their perfect fairy tale wedding gown from the age of 10, others find selecting the dress one of the most daunting parts of planning a wedding. Here’s a quick guide on how to make sure you find ‘the one’ that’s perfect for you.

Finding ‘the perfect dress’ can be a pretty daunting experience. Even shopping for regular clothes can be tough sometimes! Award-winning bridal designer and director of the international Casey Jeanne Atelier and Jeannelle l’Amour Bridal, Casey Jeanne, says too often a bride’s decisions are so clouded by ‘trends and friends’, that she forgets who she really is. “Instead of focussing on what’s ‘trending’ this season or what silhouette is ‘hot for 2018’, brides should be focussing on finding their own dream dress.

So, how do you do this? First things first, find your vibe! Are you a fashion forward bride, or someone more traditional? Do you absolutely adore details, or do you love the polished, clean bridal look? Not sure? Here are a few categories to help you decide what your vibe is:

1. Streamlined: This is for a slick, all-white, no-lace-or-beading, no-fuss kind of girl. A statement in itself.

2. Traditional: Chantilly lace. That’s all I’m saying. The girl who has been dreaming of this moment since forever…think shades of milks, oysters and stones…

3. Bohemian: This is for the free-spirited bride. A dress that is comfortable, a bit Moroccan and loose fitting with a beautiful flow.

4. Bold: You are a bride who dares to be different. Art Deco patterns, Baroque laces, geometric details, nude and tan bases with strong, one-of-a-kind detailing.

5. Ornate: Beading, embroidery, laces, tulles…layers, layers and more layers…more is more!

Once you’ve found your vibe it all becomes a lot less stressful, and you can focus on your silhouette and what works best for your body. Remember to keep your venue and style of wedding in mind, but always stay true to yourself!
